Homemade Dog Treats-Bison Bites

Treat your dog to a healthy, protein-packed snack with these easy homemade bison bites. Linus and Luna love them!

After reading The Forever Dog Life, we were inspired to try cooking some treats for Luna and Linus. We decided to use bison in this recipe as it is a high-quality lean protein and an excellent option for dogs with food sensitivities or allergies. Plus Luna and Linus can embrace their inner wolves.

Prep & Cook Time: 30-40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground bison

  • 1/2 cup finely chopped cilantro including stems

  • 1/3 cup finely chopped shiitake mushrooms

  • 1/2 teaspoon of soy-free liquid aminos (optional for added flavor)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 250 F

  2. Sauté mushrooms to get out any excess liquid

  3. Combine all ingredients in a bowl

  4. Shape meatballs-we used a small cookie dough scoop and made them bite-sized

  5. Bake for 18-25 minutes, depending on meatball size.

These simple, nutritious bison bites are great as a meal topper or snack. They can be kept in the refrigerator for 3-5 days or frozen for up to a couple of months. ENJOY!
