Dog Approved Gift Ideas

Whether it’s the holidays, a birthday or for no reason at all, we all love to spoil our pups from time to time. Here are some of Luna and Linus favorite gift ideas.

1. CHEWS

  • These single-ingredient chews have been a favorite of Luna and Linus for the past couple of years. They’re good as a snack, treat, or distraction on camping and road trips or just relaxing at home. And best of all, these chews don’t upset their sensitive stomachs!

2. TREATS

  • These bite-sized, natural treats are perfect for hikes and training sessions. Since Linus and Luna tend to get bored with the same treats, we’re always rotating their options to keep things exciting. And again, no tummy issues with these treats!

3. COZY THINGS-Cot, Bed, Blanket

  • Cots and dog beds aren’t just cozy spots for napping and relaxing—they’re also great tools for training Linus and Luna to decompress and recognize their calm, designated “place.” Teaching our dogs the "place" command is not only helpful at home but also especially valuable on trips, where everything is new and exciting!

  • Waterproof blankets are great for dirty and wet adventure dogs, as well as dogs that have occasional accidents.

4. DOG TREADMILL

  • While we prefer taking Linus and Luna on hikes and fun outdoor adventures, sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate—it’s either raining, muddy, or too hot! A treadmill is a bit of an investment, but its an excellent way for our dogs to get both physical exercise and mental stimulation indoors.

5. PUZZLES & TOYS

  • As with the treadmill, puzzles and toys come in handy when exploring outdoors isn’t an option. (We do take Linus and Luna out in the rain, but if it’s too muddy or wet, even they aren’t thrilled about being outside!) A treat puzzle, snuffle mat or rope fetch toy are all greats ways to mentally stimulate Linus and Luna, while helping them burn off some energy. Luna especially can be rather rough on her toys, but these have held up for a couple of years so far.

6. DOG BACKPACK

  • Besides being a stylish accessory, backpacks give Linus and Luna a “job,” which is especially helpful for reactive dogs like Linus. It encourages him to stay in “work mode,” rather than scanning for potential triggers. Also, the added weight of the backpack which we usually fill with treats and water for the dogs, helps to burn extra energy. And our husky mutts have A LOT of energy!

7. DOG LIFE JACKET

  • For dogs who love the water like Linus and Luna, a life jacket is an essential safety tool for swimming, boating, and paddle boarding! Life vests provide extra buoyancy making it easier for dogs to swim and stay a float. And the handle on the back makes it easier to pull Luna and Linus out of the water if needed.
